1987, 305/auto, 79,000 miles, $2500 and everything on it works! This thing is seriously too nice for me.

It’s hilariously dated, it doesn’t fit in my garage, it’s as slow as my Sentra, it doesn’t handle particularly well, it doesn’t have the right wheels, and it was bought from a trailer park; where most people would say it belongs. It also puts the biggest, stupidest smile on my face, and I’ve wanted one since I learned what a car was.

And before you ask; yes I’m getting basketweaves for it.

Nice buy. The Trans Am GTA is one of those cars I absolutely loved as a kid. I would love to own one eventually with the intention of making a more modern pro-touring car.

To defend it just a bit, it’s 30 years old. How fast will your Sentra be when it is 30? Also, unless the suspension has had a thorough rebuild some of the handling issues could be age too. The nice thing about F-bodies is that how they were delivered from the factory is just the starting point.

My sentra is already 23 haha! I meant that endearingly, it’s got loads of torque so it feels quick. And it handles well enough, I don’t need a race car but I might mod it later on.

The last 7 years are the hardest! For those of us who came of age in the late 70s and early 80s it was encouraging that horsepower had started going up again instead of down so 200 from a 305 didn’t seem all that terrible. Especially when you couldn’t get that from a 350 a couple of years earlier. At least as delivered from the factory. Back then there were a lot of catalytic converters chucked in to the garbage and retuning the engine shortly after buying it was expected.
